Pony Club Rules - 2019
All Pony Club Members Please Take Note of the Following Irish Pony Club Rules:
Note: Refer to Irish Pony Club website for 2019 Tack Rules
Riding Clothes:
The most important thing that you need for all mounted Pony Club activities is a suitable hard hat which meets both PAS 015, BSEN 1384 and Snell 2001 safety standards. Crash helmets and back protectors are compulsory for Cross Country activities.
You should also have:
a Pony Club sweatshirt, jodphurs or breeches, riding boots, a shirt with a collar, the official Pony Club tie & Pony Club badge
Pony:
Although the Pony Club cannot provide ponies, it is not essential to own your own. Many members hire them from riding schools to allow them to take part in the mounted activities. The versatility of the Connemara makes it an ideal choice.
There are no height restrictions for Pony Club competitions but do check the eligibility of your pony as those with high levels of points gained in other activities, such as showjumping, may be unable to take part.
Many members bring on their own ponies as they progress through the Pony Club. Irish bred ponies such as Garryhack Bobby and Mr. Polo, who now compete internationally for Ireland, came through the Pony Club.
