FESTIVAL 2015
What a great week for the Carlow Pony Club at the Festival in Mullingar. Congratulations to all participants and particularly to John Ledingham Winners - James Kavanagh, Catherine Kavanagh, Megan Telford Kelly and Nira O' Gorman. Ciara Kelly - Individual Open Winner of Combined Training received Rourkes cross cup. Ciara also received the IPC Members Cup for 2015 Sophie Walsh, winner of the U12 Challenge and Isobella Salter for 2nd place in the U10 Challenge. Special mention also to Taylor Deane who finished 4th in the Intermediate Combined Training on Bombay Ice and The Carlow Red team for 2nd place in the John Ledingham Show Jumping Horsemanship. We will post more photos and a full update from the Festival later.
2 Carlow teams took part in both the Robbie Bailey and John Ledingham Competitions this year, along with Holly Codd participating as an individual in the Senior Show Jumping Competition

ROBBIE BAILEY AND JOHN LEDINGHAM AREA 1 QUALIFIER AT BOSWELL ON JULY 14TH
In the John Ledingham qualifier, our Blue Team of Megan Telford Kelly, Catherine Kavanagh ,James Kavanagh and Nira O'Gorman finished in 1st position. 2nd place went to the Red Team of Leah Burgess, Holly Bolger, Orla McDonagh and Declan Deegan. Our Robbie Bailey teams also did well, with the Carlow Blue Team of Meadbh Browne, Claire B. Kavanagh, Ellen Kelly and Julie Hatton finishing second. The Carlow Reds came 4th, the team consisting of Avril Kelly, Liam Lawlor, Alannah Walsh and Lucy Bolger. Holly Codd was joint first in the Senior Individual class. Well done to all who competed on the day!

Junior Show Jumping (Robbie Bailey Cup) Competition
The final for this competition is held at the Pony Club Festival. It is a team competition. There are four members on a team and the format for this competition can be found in the relevant section of the IPC Current Rule Book. To qualify for this competition a team must be placed first, second or third at their Area Qualifier.
This competition is for riders Under 14 years old on 1st January of the competition year. They must also be C Test standard but must not have their C+ Test. Ponies must be 5 years or over. The jumps have a maximum height of 90cm. Ponies/horses who have competed and jumped over 1metre in the current or previous year are not eligible. You should check the current Show Jumping Rule Book for further details.
This competition is named in honour of Robbie Bailey who was D.C. of the Laois Branch. He was wise and gracious, knowledgeable and modest man, and was a source of admiration to everyone who came into contact with him. He instilled in younger members, the art, skills and joys of horsemanship. He died in 1983. To ensure it remains a true Junior Competition, the age remains Under 14, whilst junior age is Under 15 for Horse Trials, Combined Training and Hunter Trials.
The same combination of pony/horse and rider from a winning Robbie Bailey team (in any year) is not eligible to compete.
