Carlow Hunt Pony Club Camp- 2022

Pony Camp will take place from 4th to 8th July 2022

​Thursday Dressage Tests & D & D+ Tests

Dressage Tests.
All rides except 6 & 7 will do a dressage test.
Times attached. Please present at Dressage arena 3, 40 mins prior to your test time for your warm up. Pony must be plaited and rider neatly turned out. Children with a later dressage time should be encouraged to plait themselves at camp.

CAMP SCHEDULE for 2022
MONDAY- Arrive 9.00 am. Please go unmounted with your pony/horse to the field where each Ride(Group) will be posted and meet your instructor @ 9.30am. Do not at any time during the week mount up until you are with an instructor.
Kates Tack Shop will be on site from 12.00pm

For Monday & Tuesday: 
Session 1: 10.00am to 12.30pm (including break for bun run)
Lunch: 12.30pm to 1.30pm
Session 2: 1.30pm to 3.00pm
Session 3: 3.00pm to 4.00pm
Tack Cleaning and Care of Pony/Horse: 4.00pm to 4.30pm
Finish: 4.30pm​
TUESDAY- Grooming Workshop with Alison McIvor 
WEDNESDAY- Older rides (7-10) Day Trips, Alice Mernagh SJ Qualifier (enter itsplainsailing.com/org/chpc#event-30821), Bouncy Castles
THURSDAY- Dressage Tests for Fun Two Day Event, D & D+ Tests, BBQ, Robbie Bailey, John Ledingham & Senior SJ Qualifiers (enter itsplainsailing.com/org/chpc#event-30822), Bouncy Castles Sleepover for older rides (7-10)
FRIDAY- Show Jumping and Cross Country for Fun Two Day Event, Fancy Dress open to all, Team challenge on foot, Prize Giving and tidy up

NB: The Irish Pony Club guidelines to tack are be upheld for the week.
Guidelines for dress code: Carlow Pony Club sweat shirt, white / blue shirt / polo shirt with pony club tie, cream / beige jodhpurs. Black or CHPC silk (hat) covers. No jewellery allowed. Hair tied back and hair net essential for long hair.

Please keep car park clean at all times and stay safe. Most importantly stay safe and have fun!
On Monday, Kate's Tack Shop will be on site from 12.00pm

Packed lunch for rider! Please ensure you child has adequate drinks for the day as squash/water will not be provided at the tent as in previous years.

​PARENTS CHECK LIST
Check your child’s stirrup irons are wide enough, about 1cm either side of widest part of your child’s foot
Check ponies feet in case you need the farrier
Check passport to ensure all vaccinations are in order and bring passport with you.
Parents. - Help is needed every day with "the bun run" (refreshments for the children), moving arenas etc. Please feel free to help at any time! It is the best way to get involved.

U12’s will need a suitably experienced person available all week.
Please ensure that you have your children at Camp on time and prepared as there is a timetable and delays can cause upset to the other members of the ride and instructor as well as to your own child.
Remember we have a lot of new members so look out for new families and make them welcome.

For any horsboxes left unhitched during the day, please ensure the horsebox is stabilized with handbrake, jockey-wheel and blocks at the rear. It is forbidden to load a pony/horse unless horsebox is stabilized.

OUR LOVELY CHANGEABLE IRISH WEATHER: Needless to say we cannot influence this, however we can come prepared!
Sun cream, wet-gear (waterproof pull-ups and jacket), a towel and a change of clothes are all advisable.


​NEW FAMILIES AND MEMBERS: If you have any questions or if there is anything you would like to know please feel free to call Emma on 087 6357807 who will be happy to help!

SECOND HAND SHOP Monday and Tuesday only: Have you outgrown any Carlow XC shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, jodhpurs, shirts, boots, etc. or have you any tack that you would like to sell? Good quality only! Clearly labelled with price and contact Name & Phone Number. 

BAR-B-Q: Thursday will be Bar-B-Q day, weather permitting, and so no need to bring a packed Lunch on this day! This will be all hands on deck and all offers of help most welcome!

​FIRST AID: There will be a first aid kit and a pony care kit on site for the duration of the week. Please contact Emma Kelly or Louise O'Neill if anybody is in need of first aid during the week.

IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT: There will be a doctor on call, First Aid will be administered as appropriate and an Ambulance will be called if necessary.

VET ON CALL: Parents are advised to contact their own family veterinary practice.

​SPORTSMANSHIP SHIELDS: A shield for 'Sportsmanship' will be awarded to one child in each ride. This award recognises the child who is a great sport, who shows great respect for their Instructor and indeed all officials as well as their peers. The child who tries their best across a range of disciplines regardless of the outcome, who is magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat as well as showing camaraderie and support for fellow competitors. These shields were kindly sponsored by past members and friends of the Pony Club with the aim of seeing the Pony Club going from strength to strength by fostering the above qualities in today's members. It is a great honour for any child to be awarded this shield.
